  • Australia Post eParcel returns provide a convenient and efficient way to manage the return of goods from customers.
  • This article outlines how to set up Australia Post returns on your Starshipit account.

Before you begin

Ensure that you have Australia Post eParcel set up in your courier settings, and returns pricing on your Australia Post eParcel account.

1. Enable returns in Australia Post settings

  1. In your Starshipit account, go to Settings.
  2. Select Couriers from the left menu.
  3. Click Settings, next to Australia Post.
  4. Select the Advancedtab, then tick Enable Returns.
  5. Click Save at the bottom of the Advanced tab.

2. (Optional) Add additional return product codes

By default your Australia Post eParcel account will be set up with the product code PR for returns. This is the most common code loaded by Australia Post eParcel.

Please note the PR code will not show up under your product code settings in Settings > Couriers > Australia Post.

To add the product codes:

  1. In your Starshipit account, go to Settings.
  2. Select Couriers from the left menu.
  3. Click Settings, next to Australia Post.
  4. Click Add a new product code.
  5. Enter the code, and name, and set the type as Domestic.

Supported codes include:

  • PR - eParcel Post Returns
  • PR1 - eParcel Post Returns - Zonal 1
  • PR2 - eParcel Post Returns - Zonal 2
  • XPR - Express eParcel Post Returns
  • XPR1 - Express eParcel Post Returns - Zonal 1
  • XPR2 - Express eParcel Post Returns - Zonal 2

3. (Optional) Manifest return orders on label print

When using return labels with Australia Post, it’s crucial to ensure that the orders are properly manifested. Many post offices will not accept return shipments if the return label hasn't been included in a manifest, especially when the customer is returning the parcel themselves.

Australia Post returns labels, once manifested, will not appear on AusPost manifest reports. This is expected behaviour from Australia Post and does not affect the validity of the return label. Only outbound consignments will be listed in the manifest reports.

To prevent any issues or delays with your returns, we recommend enabling the option to automatically manifest return orders on label print. You can find this option in your Starshipit account by navigating to:

  1. Settings > Couriers > Australia Post Settings > Advanced.
  2. Tick the option to Manifest Return Orders on Label Print.
  3. Click Save.
