:::note
Only authorized NZ Post accounts can ship dangerous goods. If your account hasn’t been enabled for DG shipments, contact your NZ Post account manager.
:::

#### **Adding dangerous goods Details**

Before shipping, you must add dangerous goods details under courier settings.

1. Go to **Settings > Couriers.**

## Sending orders containing dangerous goods

You can indicate a shipment contains dangerous goods in the following ways:

**Before you start processing (Recommended)**

To simplify the process and allow for reuse, add DG tags first:

1. In Starshipit, navigate to **Settings > Tags.**
2. Click **Add New.**
3. Enter the **UN Number** of the Dangerous Goods (DG) you want to assign, e.g., UN3081.
4. Click **Save.**

**At the order level**

1. Open the order details.
2. Go to the **Tags** section:
   * Classic UI: Located below the Items section
   * New UI: Located in the right panel
3. Select the **DG tag (UN Number)** you want to assign:
   * Alternatively, enter the DG’s UN Number manually (Ensure the DG details are set up in the DG settings).
4. For **NZ Post Domestic only**, select the **DG add-on.**
5. Print the order.

**On print, Starshipit will automatically send the DG details matching the assigned DG tags to NZ Post Domestic & NZ Post International.**

---

## Assigning dangerous goods using rules

1. In Starshipit, navigate to **Settings > Rules.**
2. Click **Add New Rule.**
3. Define any condition (e.g., SKU equals 12345).
4. Select the action **‘Assign Tags’.**
5. In the **Value** dropdown, select the **DG UN Number.**
6. Click **Save.**

**Once set up, UN tags will be automatically assigned to orders meeting the conditions upon import.**

---

## Default dangerous goods

You can set one of your DG entries as the **default**. This means that:

* The details of this DG entry will be automatically passed to NZ Post when the **DG add-on** is selected for a shipment.
* This applies when no specific DG tag is assigned to the shipment.

---

## Printing Dangerous Goods Declaration Form

#### **NZ Post Domestic**

* The **Dangerous Goods Declaration Form** will be automatically generated as a PDF and downloaded to your computer when printing labels.
* The form uses the Dangerous Goods  details from the Dangerous Goods settings.
* You will require two copies to be printed and signed to meet compliance standards.

#### **NZ Post International**

* **No separate** Dangerous Goods Declaration Form is generated.
* All DG details are included directly on the shipping label.
