> Learn how to use USB scales with the Starshipit Desktop App to automatically declare package weights.

## Requirements

* The USB Scales integration is supported on Windows and Mac with the Starshipit Desktop App.
* You need to have [installed the latest Starshipit Desktop App](/articles/printing-labels-packing-slips/printing/set-up-desktop-print-application).
If you do not see the **Peripherals** tab in the Desktop App settings window, download and install the latest version from **Settings > Printing**.
* Supported Scales are the Dymo M10, Dymo M25 and Dymo S50.
+ If you are using a different USB scale, please contact our support team [here](https://help.starshipit.com).
* The scale integration only supports kilograms. If your scales are configured in any other unit, the weights will be converted to kilograms and will be pasted into Starshipit in the kilogram unit.

## How it works

1. If you haven't already, ensure you have set up your scales on your computer.
You can find our Dymo set up guide [here](https://download.dymo.com/dymo/user-guides/Scales/M10_M25_UserGuide_en-US.pdf).
2. Open the Starshipit Desktop App.
3. Open the Desktop App settings window.
   * On Mac, select **Starshipit Desktop > Settings...** from the macOS menu bar.
4. Select the **Peripherals** tab.
5. Tick **Enable Scale**.
6. Select which scale you're using and click **Save**.

You'll see the status of the scale in the bottom left:

* **Connected**: You're good to go!
* **Disconnected**: Check you've set up your scales correctly per the manufacturer's guide.

## Print an order

Our recommended approach is to combine this workflow with a scanner and use [Quick Print,](/articles/getting-started/barcode-scanning/scan-to-open-and-print) however, this functionality will work in any workflow:

1. Open the order.
2. If the scale is correctly configured and says **Connected**, you will see an option in the bottom-left to **Get Weight.**
3. When you select this, Starshipit will read the weight from the scales and update the package weight in Starshipit to match.
4. Click **Print**.
