# Connect BigCommerce to Starshipit

> Create a BigCommerce API account and connect it to Starshipit so orders and tracking information can stay in sync.

Connect BigCommerce to Starshipit so you can import orders and write tracking information back when labels are printed.

## Before you begin

You need admin access to both BigCommerce and Starshipit.

## Create an API account in BigCommerce

1. In BigCommerce, [create a store-level API account](https://support.bigcommerce.com/articles/Public/Store-API-Accounts).
2. Select **V2/V3 API token**.
3. Set the following OAuth scopes and leave unlisted scopes unchanged.

Copy and securely store the **API Path**, **Client ID**, and **Access Token** when BigCommerce displays them. BigCommerce does not show these credentials again.

## Connect BigCommerce in Starshipit

1. In Starshipit, go to **Settings > Integrations > Add a new integration > BigCommerce**.
2. Enter a name that identifies the store.
3. Leave **Username** empty.
4. Enter the **API Path**, **Client ID**, and **Access Token** from BigCommerce.
5. Click **Save**.

## Verify the connection

[Import BigCommerce orders](/articles/90200000000506-import-orders-from-bigcommerce) and confirm an eligible order appears in Starshipit.

## Shipment write-back

When you print a BigCommerce order, Starshipit writes the tracking number and shipping method back to the BigCommerce shipment. Where Starshipit can confidently match the selected courier to a BigCommerce-supported carrier, it also sends the matching carrier value for tracking. If there is no supported match, Starshipit keeps the shipping method and tracking number and does not guess a carrier.

## Use catalog product names on packing slips

By default, Starshipit uses the product name on the BigCommerce order line. If another sales channel changes that name and you want packing slips to use the matching BigCommerce catalog name instead, enable the option in your integration settings.

1. Go to **Settings > Integrations > BigCommerce**.
2. Select **Use BigCommerce catalog product names**.
3. Click **Save**.
4. Import a new order and check its packing slip before using the setting for live fulfilment.

Starshipit matches the catalog product by its BigCommerce product ID and keeps variant details from the order. If it cannot find a matching catalog product, it continues to use the order-line name. The option applies to new imports and does not change existing orders.
