Once installed, open the app and tap Login to Starshipit. Enter your Starshipit username and password, then tap Login to proceed to the onboarding process..

Configuration

The onboarding and settings are local to each device, allowing you to configure different devices with different settings—helpful if team members are dedicated to picking or packing. You can always change these settings later from the Settings menu.

Once you've logged in, you'll be guided through the onboarding process where you'll choose how you'd like to use the app.

  • I'll be picking orders only
You'll see orders without the "picked" tag. Picking an order adds the "picked" tag and removes it from your list of orders. You can scan items to mark them as picked. Printing from the app isn't available in this mode.
  • I'll be packing orders only
You'll see orders without any tag, or with the "picked" tag. Packing an order adds the "packed" tag and removes it from your list of orders. In packing mode you can scan items to mark them as packed, update packaging and print labels.
  • I'll be doing both
You'll have both Picking and Packing tabs in the app. Switch between them to see orders waiting to be picked or packed. The Packing tab displays only orders with the picked tag.

Printing from your device

You can print labels directly from your mobile device, or you can use a desktop-based print client—whichever suits your workflow best.

Printing Directly from Your Mobile Device Using the Starshipit Print Client (Desktop)

If you have network-discoverable printers and want your phones to connect directly to them (instead of printing through your computers), follow the steps below for your device type.

Android
  1. On your Android device, enable printing (e.g., via Settings > Printing).
  2. In the mobile app, tap “Print.”
  3. Select your printer from the list of available options.
iPhone (AirPrint)
  1. Enable AirPrint in your iOS device settings.
  2. In the app, tap “Print,” then select “Choose Printer” to see all AirPrint-enabled printers on the network.
  3. Pick your preferred printer.
  4. In the mobile app, tap "Print". The label will print automatically to the printer specified in your settings.
  5. Each iPhone can store its own printer preference locally, so different devices can use different printers.

Other configuration options

Adjust Item Quantities: You can enable Manual Quantity Adjustment from Settings to allow fine-tuned control during picking and packing. This adds + and - buttons to the picking and packing screens for adjusting quantities manually if not using barcode scanning.

You can also customise which item attributes are displayed in the app by selecting or deselecting them from Settings. You can choose all or some of SKU, Bin, Size, Colour, Barcode.

Features

Packing Validation

Ensure accuracy while packing by scanning product barcodes. Open the order and tap the barcode scanner icon on the order details page in the top right, then scan each product’s barcode to update the packed/picked quantity. Once all items have been scanned, tap "Complete Picking/Packing" to finalise the order.
Note: For this to work, you will need to have product barcodes set up in Starshipit. If there are not alreading importing, use the Product Catalogue to store them.

Mark Orders As Picked/Packed

After you've finished picking or packing an order, tap "Complete Packing" to mark it as completed. This prevents the order from being processed again and serves as a reminder that it's ready to go.

Digital Packing List

Use the app as a digital picking list. Click on orders to see a break down of item details to help with efficient picking and ensure you have everything you need for each order.

Trigger Label Printing

Set up label printing as per steps above. Once configured, tap "Print" from the app to initiate printing directly from your mobile device.

Bulk Picking and Packing

To bulk pick or pack multiple orders, long-press on an order to enable multi-select mode. Select the orders you want to process and pick or pack them together.

Partial picking & packing

Process orders even if all items aren’t ready for shipping.

  • Pick or Pack Available Items: Select an order and scan or manually adjust the quantities of items you are ready to process.
  • Tap Partially Pick/Partially Pack: Instead of finalising with "Complete Packing," tap Partially Pick or Partially Pack to save your progress.
  • Create a Partial Shipment: A partial shipment is created for the processed items, while remaining items are tagged as Partially Shipped or Unshipped.
  • Return to Finish Later: Remaining items stay visible for follow-up when they’re ready.

Find Orders By Scanning Order Number Barcodes

From the picking/packing page, tap the barcode icon in the top right to open your device's camera scanner. Scan an order number barcode (from a packing slip or similar) to quickly open the order in the app for processing.

Update Packaging and Carrier

Change packaging and carrier details by tapping on them within the order, then selecting from your preconfigured options.

Users' Names Stored for Auditing

Orders are automatically tagged with the name of the user who picked or packed them, allowing you to easily audit and track who processed each order.

Switch Between Child Accounts

If you’re logged in to a parent account, switch to a child account by going to Settings and selecting the desired child account to manage its orders.

Filter & sort orders

Filter orders in the picking/packing tabs by date, the source of the orders and their current status. Sort by Newest, older, most SKUs in the order and least SKUs for quicker processing

Recommended workflows

Picking and Packing Picking Only Packing Only
  1. Organise Your Workspace
Ensure your packing station is clear and stocked with materials. Have your mobile device ready with the Starshipit app open.
  2. Picking Orders
Begin by accessing the Picking Tab in the app. This will show you all unpicked orders. Use your mobile device as a digital picking list—tap the barcode icon and start scanning the items as you walk through the warehouse. The app will guide you to the correct products, reducing mistakes and speeding up the process.
    • For efficiency, bulk pick multiple orders by long-pressing on an order and selecting others to process together.
  3. Move to Packing Area
Once you’ve picked all the items for the selected orders, move them to your packing station. By this point, each order will have been tagged as “Picked” in the app.
  4. Packing Orders
Switch to the Packing Tab in the app. Here, you’ll see orders that have been picked and are ready to be packed. Select an order, and use the barcode scanner again to validate the items as you pack them. This ensures you’re placing the right products in the box.
    • If the packaging size or carrier needs to change, simply tap the packaging options and select the right box size or carrier for that order.
  5. Complete the Order
Once all items are packed, tap Complete Packing in the app. This will mark the order as packed and ensure it’s not accidentally processed again by another team member.
  6. Print Labels
If you have configured label printing click print to trigger the label to be sent to the printer. This means you can stick the shipping label on the box immediately, ready to be shipped out.
