# Receiver tax numbers

Receiver tax numbers are identifiers you may need to provide for the receiver when shipping internationally (for example, a destination EORI number, UKIMS number, or a national ID). Some couriers use these details for customs declarations and clearance.

Receiver tax numbers are different from shipper tax numbers:

* **Shipper tax numbers** are set in **Settings > Options** and applied automatically based on destination country. See [Set up shipper tax numbers](/articles/orders-manifests-reports/orders/set-up-shipper-tax-numbers).
* **Receiver tax numbers** are usually provided by the receiver and are added per order in Starshipit.

## Before you start

* Confirm which tax identifier is required for your shipment and destination (and whether it’s mandatory for your courier service).
* Make sure your courier and service support sending receiver tax numbers.

## Supported couriers and services

Starshipit can send receiver tax numbers for selected couriers and services, including:

* **DHL Express**: receiver registration/tax numbers such as EORI, VAT, national ID, passport number, and other supported DHL tax types.
* **DPD UK**: receiver EORI, VAT, PID/National ID, and UKIMS where applicable.
* **Royal Mail**: receiver EORI and VAT.
* **UPS**: receiver tax identification number.
* **NZ Post / eShip**: receiver VAT/GST/ABN-style tax number where supported by the service.

Depending on the courier, receiver tax numbers may only be sent for international services, customs-enabled services, or specific destination countries. If a required tax type is not available for your courier or service, contact [Starshipit Support](https://help.starshipit.com) before dispatching.

## Add receiver tax numbers to an order

1. In [Starshipit](https://app2.starshipit.com/), go to **Orders**.
2. Open the order you want to ship.
3. In the order sidebar, find **Tax Details**.
4. Select the relevant tax number type and enter the receiver’s identifier.
5. Print/dispatch the shipment as normal.
