> Understand when manual orders are suitable, their limitations, and where to find the order-creation steps.

Create orders manually when an order does not come from a connected system or when you only need to process occasional shipments.

## When manual orders make sense

Manual orders are useful for:

- One-off replacements or samples.
- Phone, email, or wholesale orders that are not stored in another connected system.
- Testing a courier or fulfilment workflow.
- Low-volume shipping without an order integration.

## Understand the limitations

A manually created order has no source integration to update. Starshipit cannot automatically write its fulfilment status or tracking number back to a sales channel, warehouse system, or inventory platform.

For recurring or high-volume orders, use a direct integration, CSV import, FTP connection, or the Starshipit API instead.

When manual entry suits the order, follow [Create a manual order](/articles/206358586-create-a-manual-order).
