Compare carrier rates before you ship by using the Quotes page, reviewing an existing order, or requesting rates through the Starshipit API. Choose the method that matches your workflow.

## Compare rates without creating an order

Use the dedicated **Quotes** page in UI 2.0 when you need a shipping estimate or want to test carrier rates before creating an order. You can enter destination and package details, compare available services, and create an order from the quote.

## Compare rates for an existing order

### From the Orders grid

1. Open **Orders**.
2. Make sure the **Carrier & Product** column is visible. If it is hidden, select the column-selection cog in the top-right corner of the grid and enable it.
3. Review the selected carrier service and quoted price in the **Carrier & Product** column.
4. Select the edit icon beside the price to compare or change the carrier service.

### From an individual order

1. Open **Orders**, then select an order.
2. Scroll to the **Carrier** section.
3. Review the available carriers, services, and rates.
4. Select another carrier service if you want to change the current selection.

## Retrieve rates through the API

If you are integrating Starshipit with an external system, you can retrieve shipping quotes through the [Starshipit API](/articles/integrations/the-starshipit-api/starshipit-api-overview).

1. Use the [Delivery Services API endpoint](/developers/api-reference/starshipit#endpoint-rates-post-api-deliveryservices-delivery-services) to submit the shipment details.
2. Set `include_pricing` to `true` in the request body.
3. Review the returned prices and services.
