> Connect approved DHL Express BBX or BBE services and configure the parent shipping location before consolidating orders.

Set up DHL Express Break Bulk in UI 2.0 to send several customer orders together as one international shipment.

## How Break Bulk works

With Break Bulk Express (BBX), your orders travel together through the same DHL import gateway and clear customs as one consolidated shipment. DHL then separates the parcels for delivery to their individual recipients.

In Starshipit, you will work with:

- **Child shipments:** The individual customer orders, each with its own delivery address and label.
- **Parent shipment:** The consolidated shipment containing those child orders. Its label uses the DHL location agreed for your connection.
- **Parent ID and Pallet ID:** The references that group your child orders into the consolidation and its pallets.

Starshipit supports **Break Bulk Express (BBX)** and **Break Bulk Economy (BBE)**. Use the service and route agreed with DHL for your account.

Complete the setup below once. When you are ready to ship, follow [Ship orders with DHL Express Break Bulk](/articles/1792275052810-ship-orders-with-dhl-express-break-bulk).

## Before you begin

- Arrange BBX or BBE approval with your DHL Express account manager.
- [Connect DHL Express](/articles/203806429-set-up-dhl-express) using the MyDHL API. Have the account number and any API credentials required by your connection.
- Obtain the parent shipping address and FOC (Free of Charge) account number from DHL. This is the DHL location used as the receiver on the parent label.
- Confirm which final destination countries and Break Bulk service apply to that location.

## Add the approved product codes

1. Go to **Settings > Couriers > [DHL Express](https://next.starshipit.com/settings/couriers/setup/dhl-express)**.
2. Find **Add product codes**.
3. Add the DHL-approved **BBX** or **BBE** product code for your service.
4. Select **Save**.

Adding a product code in Starshipit does not enable the service on your DHL account. DHL must approve it first.

## Configure the parent shipping location

If your connection includes **BBX/BBE Parent shipping locations**, use this section to add the location supplied by DHL.

1. Open **BBX/BBE Parent shipping locations** in the DHL Express settings.
2. Select **Enable BBX/BBE**.
3. Select **Add new**.
4. Enter the contact, address and **FOC Account Number** supplied by DHL.
5. Enter the child orders’ final destination countries in **Countries to apply**, using comma-separated country codes.
6. Select **Use BBE** or **DHL Economy Breakbulk** for a BBE location when that option is shown.
7. Add or save the address, then select **Save** for the DHL Express settings.

Use **Edit** to change an existing location. In an address editor with an **Update address** button, apply the address change before saving the DHL Express settings.

## Check the saved setup

Reopen the DHL Express settings and confirm that the approved product code, parent location, destination countries and FOC account are still present. Check that the location uses the intended BBX or BBE service.

Next, [ship your first Break Bulk consolidation](/articles/1792275052810-ship-orders-with-dhl-express-break-bulk). You will group the orders, print their child labels, then create the parent label.

## Troubleshooting

For a missing BBX/BBE service, check that its DHL-approved product code is saved in your courier settings.

If no suitable parent address is found, compare the selected orders' final destination countries with **Countries to apply** on the saved location. Use the warehouse address and FOC account supplied by DHL.
