The Product Catalogue in Starshipit lets you store all relevant product details — such as SKU, HS/HTS code, cost price, and bin location — and automatically apply them to orders during import or at checkout. This means less manual data entry, better customs compliance, and more accurate live shipping rates.

## What you can do with the Product Catalogue

Use the Product Catalogue to specify the location of each item. This information will be printed on packing slips and displayed in the UI for easy access.

Specify the dimensions of each product, and configure your packages based on these item dimensions. See the Packages Setup Guide for more information.

Configure these in the Product Catalogue, and we'll ensure they're automatically submitted to the courier with your shipment.

Set a customs description for your items in the Product Catalogue. Starshipit will use that description — rather than the storefront name — when you ship your orders.

Set the weights in Starshipit so your shipping quotes are accurate and acceptable to your couriers.

Enable the Product Catalogue for checkout, and Starshipit will use product dimensions, weights, and values to calculate the most accurate live shipping rates.

Add an HTS Code to your products in the Product Catalogue. Starshipit will automatically use this for shipments to the U.S., ensuring your items are classified correctly for duty and tariff calculation.

Include the Cost Price for your products and enable the B2B2C setting in Product Catalogue settings. Starshipit will then use the Cost Price as the declared value for U.S. shipments, helping you stay compliant and protect wholesale pricing.

## How it works

1. **Load your products into Starshipit**  
   Add products to the Product Catalogue manually or via CSV import. Include details like SKU, weight, dimensions, HS code, and any other shipping-related fields.

2. **SKU matching during order import and checkout**  
   * **During order import:** Starshipit checks for matching SKUs between the incoming order items and the Product Catalogue.
   * **On checkout (live rates enabled):** Starshipit references the Product Catalogue to complete or replace missing product information — like dimensions or weights — before calculating rates.

3. **Settings control how data is applied**  
   Based on your settings, Starshipit will either replace all product fields with catalogue data, or only fill in fields that are empty.

4. **Order or checkout is completed with accurate data**  
   The order or live rate request is processed using complete, validated product data from the catalogue.
