> Legacy NZ Post commercial-access process and the current account-number setup path.

This article describes the former NZ Post commercial-access process. You can now connect your NZ Post account in Starshipit without requesting commercial API access.

:::warning
**This process is no longer required.** Do not submit a commercial-access request to connect NZ Post to Starshipit. Enter your NZ Post account number in the relevant [Domestic](/articles/couriers/nz-post/how-to-set-up-nz-post-domestic), [International](/articles/couriers/nz-post/how-to-set-up-nz-post-international), or [Express](/articles/couriers/nz-post/how-to-set-up-nz-post-express) setup guide instead. Domestic also asks for your Site ID, and Express uses the Domestic connection.
:::

## Before you begin

Have your NZ Post account number ready. NZ Post Domestic also asks for your Site ID. If your account has more than one number or you are unsure which services are enabled, check the details with NZ Post.

## Former commercial-access process

Previously, customers registered for NZ Post commercial API access through the NZ Post developer centre, selected their services, and listed Starshipit Support as the developer contact. After NZ Post processed the request, they sent their account details to Starshipit before connecting each courier. These registration and support-submission steps are retired; they are not part of the current setup path.

## Set up the services you use now

NZ Post Domestic, International, and Express are separate couriers in Starshipit. Follow the relevant setup guide:

- [Set up NZ Post Domestic](/articles/couriers/nz-post/how-to-set-up-nz-post-domestic)
- [Set up NZ Post International](/articles/couriers/nz-post/how-to-set-up-nz-post-international)
- [Set up NZ Post Express](/articles/couriers/nz-post/how-to-set-up-nz-post-express)

For a new Domestic or International connection, leave the optional API credential fields blank to use Starshipit's shared connection. Existing connections that use their own credentials should keep those saved credentials. Set up Domestic before Express, because Express uses the Domestic connection.

## Check your connection

After saving each courier, use its **Test to ensure it works** option. If the test fails, check the account number and any service-specific details in its setup guide. Contact our [support team](https://help.starshipit.com) if you still cannot connect.
