> Check manifesting requirements, paper copies, and what to do when a label or parcel was included by mistake.

Check when your courier needs a manifest, how to get a paper copy, and what to do if you printed or manifested a parcel by mistake.

<!-- faq:start -->

<!-- faq:question -->What is a manifest?<!-- /faq:question -->

A manifest is a summary of all your shipments either in a paper or electronic format which allows your courier to correctly bill you and accept your freight into their network. The summary will contain information such as the pickup location, receiver location, weight, dimensions and service.

As manifests are used to calculate how much you need to pay for each shipment it is important to ensure you manifest each shipment where required.

<!-- faq:question -->How does manifesting work on Starshipit?<!-- /faq:question -->

Starshipit submits shipment details electronically to your courier. Some courier drivers and drop-off locations also request a paper copy, which you can download when the courier returns a manifest report.

<!-- faq:question -->How do I download or reprint a manifest?<!-- /faq:question -->

Go to **Manifest**, find the existing manifest, and select **Report** or **Download report** in its **Downloads** column. Open the downloaded report, check the courier and manifest details, and print it if you need a paper copy. Follow [Download or reprint a manifest report](/articles/360001233636-manifest-orders#download-or-reprint-a-manifest-report) for the steps and what to do if the download is missing.

You do not need to submit another manifest to download an existing report.

<!-- faq:question -->How do I submit a manifest?<!-- /faq:question -->

Follow [Manifest orders](/articles/360001233636-manifest-orders) to submit selected orders, manifest all eligible orders, or schedule automatic manifesting.

<!-- faq:question -->How do I remove a parcel from a manifest if its label was printed by mistake?<!-- /faq:question -->

First, check whether the manifest has already been submitted and which tracking number is on the parcel. If you printed two labels, keep the label you intend to use and identify the unused tracking number before cancelling anything.

- **Before submitting the manifest:** Cancel the unused courier shipment where cancellation is available, then archive the order if you no longer need to send it. Archived orders are excluded from automatic manifesting. Follow [Cancel a courier shipment](/articles/12936466001295-cancel-a-courier-shipment) for the cancellation and archive steps.
- **After submitting the manifest:** Contact the courier with the manifest and unused tracking number to ask whether it can remove or cancel the consignment. Archiving the order in Starshipit does not amend the manifest already sent to the courier or confirm a refund.

Do not cancel a tracking number that is on a parcel you still intend to send. The courier's cancellation rules and shipment state determine what can be changed.

<!-- faq:question -->Can Starshipit automatically print my manifest?<!-- /faq:question -->

No. Auto-manifest submits eligible shipments to the courier, but it does not automatically print a paper manifest copy.

If your driver or drop-off point needs a paper copy, go to the **Manifest** page and download the manifest report after the manifest has been created.

<!-- faq:question -->Does printing a label also manifest the shipment or book a pickup?<!-- /faq:question -->

It depends on the courier. Printing a label, submitting a manifest, and booking a pickup are separate steps, but some couriers link them. For example, Allied Express books a same-day pickup when you print its label, while CouriersPlease normally books a pickup when you manifest. Check the courier's manifesting requirement below and the [pickup booking guide](/articles/360000133996-book-a-courier-pickup) before processing shipments. A submitted manifest does not mean the courier has collected them.

<!-- faq:question -->Do I need to submit a manifest for every courier?<!-- /faq:question -->

No, you don't need to submit a manifest for every courier, however, it is very important you do submit a manifest for the couriers who require manifests. Our table below details the requirements of each courier, and the point when they will bill you:
