# Archive orders

> Archive completed or unwanted orders, then restore them when you need to work on them again.

Archive an order when you no longer need to process it but want to keep its record in Starshipit. You can restore it later if you need to work on it again.

## Before you begin

Archiving changes the order's status in Starshipit. It does not automatically cancel a courier shipment or guarantee a refund of shipping charges.

If a label has been printed and the parcel will not be sent, cancel the courier shipment as well. Follow [Cancel a courier shipment](/articles/12936466001295-cancel-a-courier-shipment) to check the tracking number and use the right courier cancellation route.

## Archive an order

1. Go to **Orders**.
2. Select the order or orders you want to archive.
3. Open **Actions** and select **Archive**.
4. Confirm the action.
5. Open **Archived** to check that the order is no longer in your active order tabs.

Archived orders remain available as a record, but you cannot perform active order actions such as printing or manifesting them until you restore them.

## Restore an archived order

1. Go to **Orders > Archived**.
2. Select the order or orders you want to restore.
3. Open **Actions** and select **Restore**.
4. Confirm the action.
5. Check that the order has returned to the appropriate active order tab before continuing work.

## Redo or remove instead

- Use [Redo shipping for an order](/articles/90200000000168-redo-shipping-for-an-order) when you need a fresh active copy with the same order details.
- Use [Remove unshipped orders](/articles/90200000000169-remove-unshipped-orders) only when you want to remove an unshipped order from Starshipit so it can be imported again later.
