# Choose how to print shipping labels

Choose where to create shipping labels and how to send them to a printer. Starshipit supports one-at-a-time, bulk, automatic, scan-based, and mobile printing workflows.

## Before you begin

Before creating a label:

- [Connect your courier service](/categories/couriers).
- Check that the order has a valid shipping address.
- Decide whether to download the label, print from the device, or route it through the Starshipit Desktop App.

## Choose how the label reaches a printer

| Output method | Use it when |
| --- | --- |
| **Download PDF** | You want to save the label or choose a printer from your browser or PDF viewer. |
| **Desktop App routing** | A browser, workflow, or supported mobile app should send the label to a connected packing-station computer. Starshipit selects the receiving computer; that computer's Desktop App selects the physical printer. |
| **Print from this device** | A supported mobile app should use the device's system print flow, such as AirPrint on iOS. This bypasses Desktop App routing. |

The available methods depend on the Starshipit product and workflow where you create the label.

## Print your first shipping label

Open an order and select **Print label**. Starshipit creates the shipment, tracking number, and label, then uses the output method configured for that workflow. The order moves to **Printed** after the label is created.

Confirm both outcomes:

1. Check that the order has a shipment and tracking number.
2. Check that the label downloaded, opened in a print dialogue, or reached the expected printer.

## Print one or several orders

To print one order, select **Print** from the Orders grid or open the order and select **Print label**.

To bulk print, select the orders in the Orders grid and select **Print shipping labels**. Orders in the same bulk action must use the same courier service.

## Print and move to the next order

Use **Print and next** when you want to review and print orders individually without returning to the Orders grid after each one:

1. Open an order from the Orders grid.
2. Review the order details.
3. Select **Print and next** to print the label and open the next order.

## Print labels automatically

Use the Desktop App's auto-print workflow only when imported orders are ready to ship without individual review:

1. Open the Desktop Print Application.
2. Select **Tools** > **Auto Print**.
3. Enable automatic printing of unshipped orders.
4. Choose how often the app should check for new orders.
5. Choose whether to save each label PDF or send it directly to your mapped printer.

## Scan a packing slip to print

Scan the barcode on a packing slip to open the matching order and print its shipping label. This is useful when packing from printed documents or working at a dedicated packing station.

## Reprint a label

You can reprint a label after its shipment and tracking number have been created. Reprinting produces another copy of the existing label; it does not create a new tracking number.

If a shipment and tracking number exist but no paper label came out, reprint the existing label after fixing the output route. Do not create another shipment just to retry the physical print.
