> Connect Adobe Commerce to import orders, manufacturer codes and barcodes, and write back tracking information.

Integrate your Adobe Commerce platform (previously Magento) with Starshipit using token or user authentication to import orders and write back tracking information.

:::important
Adobe Commerce 2.4 uses two-factor authentication by default, so use **Token** authentication. In Adobe Commerce 2.4.4, also allow OAuth access tokens to be used as standalone bearer tokens under **Stores > Configuration > Services > OAuth > Consumer Settings**.
:::

## Before you begin

You need your Adobe Commerce store URL and an authentication method. **Token** authentication is recommended.

## Create an access token

1. In Adobe Commerce, go to **System > Extensions > Integrations**.
2. Click **Add New Integration** and enter `Starshipit` as the name.
3. Enter your Adobe Commerce admin password, then open the **API** tab.
4. Under **Resource Access**, select **All**, then click **Save**.
5. Back on the Integrations page, click **Activate** for Starshipit and then **Allow**.
6. Copy the **Access Token** from the confirmation dialog. You do not need the consumer key, consumer secret, or access-token secret.

## Connect Adobe Commerce in Starshipit

1. Go to **Settings > Integrations > Add a new integration > Adobe Commerce**. To update an existing connection in UI 2.0, open **Settings > Integrations > [Adobe Commerce](https://next.starshipit.com/settings/integrations/magento2)**.
2. Turn on **Enable Adobe Commerce**.
3. Select **Token** authentication and enter your store URL and access token.
4. Choose the order status or statuses to import. Separate multiple statuses with a semicolon.
5. Click **Save**, then use **Test connection** and confirm a test order imports as expected.

<!-- faq:start -->

<!-- faq:question -->Can I use user authentication instead?<!-- /faq:question -->

Yes. In Adobe Commerce, create an **Integration** user role with **All** resource access. Create a user, assign that role, then enter the username and password in Starshipit. Use token authentication when possible.

<!-- faq:end -->

## Optional order fields

To offer delivery instructions, authority to leave, or signature-required choices at checkout, create these Adobe Commerce custom fields:

```
delivery_comment (String max 100) for the delivery instruction
authority_to_leave: values can be 0, 1, true, false, yes or no
signature_required: values can be 0, 1, true, false, yes or no
```
:::note
Add these fields to the `/rest/V1/orders/` order-search criteria API.
:::

Turn on **Import bundle items** only when you need bundle lines to import. Bundle details appear on customised packing slips; ship-together bundles are not supported.

## Import manufacturer codes and barcodes

Starshipit imports these fixed Adobe Commerce product attributes on newly imported orders. There is no separate identifier-mapping setting to enable.

| Adobe Commerce attribute | Starshipit field | What to check |
| --- | --- | --- |
| `manufacturer_sku` | **Manufacturer Product ID** | Use the manufacturer's code for the purchased product. |
| `upc` | **Barcode** | Use the recognised identifier for the purchased product or variant. Leading zeroes are retained. |

For configurable products, the purchased variant's `manufacturer_sku` takes priority. If it is blank, Starshipit uses the configurable parent's `manufacturer_sku`. The Barcode comes only from the purchased variant's `upc`; it does not fall back to the parent's barcode. Other custom attribute names are not mapped by this feature.

1. Populate the relevant attributes on your products in Adobe Commerce.
2. Import a new representative order, including a variant if you sell configurable products.
3. In Starshipit UI 2.0, open the order's **Items** section and show **Manufacturer Product ID** and **Barcode** if the columns are hidden.
4. Compare both values with the purchased product or variant before shipping.

`upc` populates **Barcode**, rather than the dedicated **Standardised Product ID** field. See [Set up product identifiers for EU shipments](/articles/1790827200001-set-up-product-identifiers-for-eu-shipments) for courier requirements and fallback behaviour. The existing item SKU is unchanged.

Changing product attributes does not backfill existing orders. Correct an existing unprinted order, or [apply Product Catalogue to eligible existing orders](/articles/1792513200001-apply-product-catalogue-to-existing-orders) if you have saved matching catalogue data.

If an imported value is missing or different, check the exact attribute code and the purchased variant first. Then review [Product Catalogue settings](/articles/1781620000002-configure-product-catalogue-settings): catalogue overwrite can replace imported values, including with blanks if protection against empty values is off.

## Configure Adobe Commerce settings

Complete the following fields when you connect Adobe Commerce (Magento 2). You can update them later from **Settings > Integrations > Adobe Commerce (Magento 2)**.

| Setting | What it controls |
| --- | --- |
| **Enable Magento2** | Turns the connection on or off. |
| **Authentication** | Choose **User** authentication or **Token** authentication. Token authentication is recommended for Adobe Commerce 2.4. |
| **Store URL** | The base URL of your Adobe Commerce store. |
| **Access Token** | The token used for Token authentication. |
| **Username** and **Password** | Credentials used for User authentication. |
| **User Agent** | Optional value sent to Adobe Commerce to identify Starshipit requests. |
| **Status** | Selects the Adobe Commerce order status to import. |
| **Disable writeback** | Stops Starshipit from sending shipment and tracking updates back to Adobe Commerce. |
| **Use base currency value fields** | Uses Adobe Commerce base-currency values when importing order amounts. |
| **Map address line 2 to building field** | Maps address line 2 into Starshipit's Building field. |
| **Import bundle items** | Imports bundle items. Bundle details are available on customised packing slips; ship-together bundles are not supported. |
| **Unit of Measurement** | Selects the unit used when importing product dimensions. |

Click **Save** after changing settings. Use **Test connection** to verify the connection and confirm that a test order imports with the expected status.
