> Import Etsy products into Starshipit WMS and configure automatic or manual inventory writeback for linked variants.

Connect Etsy through Starshipit, import Etsy variants into Starshipit WMS, and keep linked inventory quantities aligned with WMS.

## Before you begin

You need:

* An Etsy store connected to the current Starshipit account.
* Permission to manage products and commerce settings in WMS.
* A unique, non-empty SKU on each inventory-managed Etsy variant you want to import.

If Etsy is not connected yet, [connect Etsy to Starshipit](/articles/206090525-connect-etsy-to-starshipit) first.

:::important
Decide whether WMS or another system owns Etsy inventory before enabling writeback. Etsy accepts inventory quantities from `0` to `999`, so writeback fails when a linked product's WMS on-hand quantity is outside that range.
:::

## Import products from Etsy

1. Go to **Products** in WMS.
2. Open the actions menu and select **Sync from Etsy**.
3. Choose the fields to import. **SKU** is required; you can also import the product title, image and sale price.
4. Optionally select **Include variant title in product name** to append each variant title to the imported product name.
5. Optionally enter a page number or add SKU filters. Leave both fields empty to import every product page.
6. Select **Start Sync**.
7. Review the sync result, then open a product and confirm its Etsy source and SKU.

The import runs in the background and matches products by SKU. It overwrites the selected fields on existing matching products and creates the Etsy link required for inventory writeback.

WMS can import only Etsy variants that have inventory management turned on and a non-empty SKU. If Etsy returns the same SKU more than once, WMS imports the first matching variant and reports the duplicates as skipped.

## Configure Etsy inventory writeback

1. Go to **System > Settings > Inventory Writeback**.
2. Find **Etsy Inventory Sync**.
3. Confirm **Connected Etsy** is shown.
4. Turn on **Auto Writeback**.

Etsy does not require a WMS writeback-location selection. Only products linked to Etsy are updated.

## Understand automatic writeback

After a supported receipt, pick, shipment, manual adjustment or stocktake variance completes, WMS queues the current on-hand quantity for Etsy in the background. The warehouse transaction does not wait for Etsy and is not rolled back if Etsy rejects the update.

You can disable Etsy writeback for an individual product when WMS should not manage that product's Etsy inventory.

## Run a manual inventory sync

Use a manual sync after a stocktake, during go-live or when you need to correct inventory drift.

1. Go to **Inventory**.
2. Select the Etsy-linked products you want to update.
3. Select **Sync to Etsy**.
4. Review the products and current WMS quantities.
5. Select **Sync to Etsy** to queue the writeback.
6. Go to **System > Process Logs** and confirm the updates completed.

Products without an enabled Etsy link are skipped.

## Verify the integration

1. Import a test Etsy variant with a unique SKU.
2. Confirm the WMS product shows an Etsy connection.
3. Enable **Auto Writeback**.
4. Complete a controlled stock adjustment that leaves the WMS on-hand quantity between `0` and `999`.
5. Confirm the Etsy quantity changed.
6. Check **System > Process Logs** for the Etsy writeback result.

## Troubleshooting

| Problem | What to check |
| --- | --- |
| Etsy does not appear in WMS | Confirm Etsy is connected to the current Starshipit account, then refresh the WMS page. |
| A variant is missing after import | Confirm the variant has inventory management turned on and a unique, non-empty SKU. Review the sync result for missing data or skipped duplicates. |
| Existing product details changed | The import overwrites the fields selected in the sync window for products with matching SKUs. Restore the affected WMS values, then select only the fields WMS should update in future syncs. |
| A product is skipped during a manual sync | Confirm the product has an enabled Etsy link. |
| Automatic writeback does not run | Confirm the product has an enabled Etsy link and **Auto Writeback** is turned on. |
| The quantity is rejected | Confirm the WMS on-hand quantity is a whole number from `0` to `999`. |
| A writeback fails | Check **System > Process Logs** for an Etsy authorization, product-link or API error before retrying. |

If the problem continues, contact [Starshipit support](https://help.starshipit.com) with the WMS account, Etsy shop, SKU and approximate time of the sync.
