> Find and claim single-order pack jobs, verify items, confirm packaging and carriers, and complete labels in Starshipit WMS Mobile.

Use Starshipit WMS Mobile to claim a ready pack job, verify the picked items, confirm packaging and a carrier, and complete the order from a handheld device.

## Before you begin

Make sure:

* You are signed in to the correct WMS workspace. See [Set up Starshipit WMS Mobile](/articles/14700000000023-setting-up-the-mobile-app).
* Your WMS role includes access to packing jobs. You also need permission to claim a job if it is not already assigned to you.
* The order has a single-order pack job. Batch pack jobs must be completed from the WMS web Packing dashboard.
* The order has been picked and staged, or has been sent straight to packing with **Pack Now**.
* Your warehouse has the required packing bench and package templates set up.

:::important
Completing a pick does not open packing automatically. WMS creates the pack job as separate work. Return to **Jobs** to find and start it.
:::

## Find and start the pack job

1. Open **Jobs** in Starshipit WMS Mobile.
2. Open the filters and select **All Jobs** and the **Packing** job type. Select **My Jobs** instead if the job is already assigned to you.
3. Search for the order or job. You can also use the Jobs scanner to find a specific job.
4. Select the ready pack job.
5. Select **Claim & Start** for an unassigned job, or **Start Job** or **Continue** for a job assigned to you.

If you select **Claim** without starting, the job remains available to you under **All Jobs** or **My Jobs**.

A pack job marked **Waiting for picks** is not ready to start. Finish staging all related pick work, then refresh **Jobs**. A paused pack job must be resumed from WMS web before you can continue it on mobile.

:::note
Starshipit WMS Mobile supports single-order packing and shipping jobs. Use WMS web for batch packing or shipping.
:::

## Follow the bench and location context

The pack job controls where you work and where the items are waiting.

| Context | What to do |
|---|---|
| **Packing bench** | Check the bench shown in the pack job header. This is the bench assigned when the pick was staged or the Pack Now job was created. |
| **Source location** | Follow the location shown in the **Location** phase. Depending on the earlier workflow, this may be a packing bench, tote, pick face, or another WMS location. |
| **Picker equipment** | You do not need to select a trolley or cart to work a pack job. Equipment is part of picking; packing follows the locations recorded on the pack job. |

Do not move to another bench unless the WMS job has been updated. The bench and source locations shown in the job are the stock locations WMS expects you to use.

For **Pack Now**, the app may direct you to the stock's current warehouse location because the standard pick was skipped.

## Verify and gather the items

The pack screen moves through **Location > Pick > Pack > Carrier > Print**.

1. Go to the source location shown in the **Location** phase.
2. Scan the location barcode. If your account allows manual location confirmation, you can select **Confirm Location Without Scan** instead.
3. Scan the product barcode. If more than one item is waiting at the location, scan or select the item you are gathering first.
4. Build the required quantity by scanning each unit, or use the manual quantity and **Pick All** controls when your interface settings allow them.
5. Select **Confirm Pick** once the full quantity for that item is shown.
6. Repeat for each item and location until the **Pack** phase becomes available.

For batch-, serial-, or expiry-tracked stock, the assigned tracking details appear on the item as read-only information. Gather the exact batch or serial shown. A matching serial scan is used to select the correct serialised line when several lines share the same SKU.

:::important
Mobile packing requires the full quantity before you can continue to packaging. The **Allow Partial Packing** account setting does not add a partial-pack action to this mobile flow. Use the WMS web Packing dashboard when you need to pack and ship only part of an order.
:::

## Confirm packaging and the carrier

1. In the **Pack** phase, add at least one saved package template.
2. Add or remove packages as needed.
3. Select a package to edit its weight in kilograms and dimensions in centimetres.
4. Select **Save and Continue** after making changes, or **Confirm Packaging** when the package details are already correct.
5. In the **Carrier** phase, select the required carrier service, then select **Confirm Carrier**.

Carrier options are quoted for the confirmed packages and shown from the lowest price first. If **Prevent Carrier/Service Changes in Packing** is enabled, the app shows the carrier and service already selected for the order instead of offering other services.

## Complete packing and create the label

Review the package, carrier, items, and destination in the **Print** phase. The final action depends on your account and device settings.

| Setup | Final action | Result |
|---|---|---|
| Standard packing with device printing on | **Print Label** | WMS creates the shipment and sends the returned label to the device print flow. On iOS, the selected AirPrint printer is used when configured. |
| Standard packing with device printing off | **Create Label** | WMS creates the shipment and label without sending it to a printer on this device. |
| Dedicated ship process | **Complete Packing** | WMS records the packed order and creates a separate shipping job. The label is not created as part of the pack action. |

When the dedicated ship process is enabled, claim the new shipping job separately from **Jobs**, or complete it from the WMS web Shipping dashboard. A mobile shipping job skips item gathering and starts with the package, carrier, and label phases.

After a successful label or packing handoff, the app returns to **Jobs**. If label creation or printing fails, the job stays on the final phase so you can correct the issue and try again.

## Leave or pause an unfinished pack job

Use the back control in the pack screen when you need to stop before completion. The app asks how to leave the job:

* **Stay** keeps the pack screen open.
* **Leave Pack** saves confirmed gather progress, keeps the job **In Progress**, and returns to **Jobs**.
* **Pause Job** saves progress and asks you to choose an account-configured pause reason. Managers can then see why the work is blocked.

A pack job left **In Progress** remains available to continue. Resume a paused pack job from WMS web before reopening it on mobile.

If the pack screen closes unexpectedly, the app saves confirmed gather progress where possible and attempts to return the incomplete job to **Ready**. Find the job again under **Jobs** and check its status before continuing. Use the in-app back control whenever possible so you can choose the intended state.

## Check permissions and settings

WMS administrators manage account-wide permissions and workflow settings from WMS web. Device printing and scanner mode are managed in Starshipit WMS Mobile.

| Permission or setting | Effect on mobile packing |
|---|---|
| Packing access | Shows pack and ship jobs the worker is allowed to process. |
| Claim jobs | Allows a worker to claim an unassigned pack or ship job. |
| Release jobs | Allows a worker to unclaim an assigned job before it starts. |
| **Barcode Scanning** | Shows barcode and camera controls during location and item verification. |
| **Allow Manual Location Confirmation** | Shows **Confirm Location Without Scan** where supported. |
| **Allow Manual Item Selection** | Allows item cards to be selected without scanning. |
| **Allow Manual Quantity Entry** | Shows direct quantity and +/− controls. |
| **Allow Pick All / Receive All Shortcuts** | Shows the one-tap full-quantity control. |
| **Prevent Carrier/Service Changes in Packing** | Locks the carrier and service already selected for the order. |
| **Dedicated Ship Process** | Changes the final pack action to **Complete Packing** and hands the order to a separate shipping job. |
| **Print settings** in the mobile app | Controls whether standard pack labels are printed from this device or only created. |

See the [WMS settings reference](/articles/14700000000031-wms-settings-reference) for account settings, or ask a WMS administrator to review **System > Roles & Permissions** if an action is missing.
