> Learn what each of the 21 WMS Settings tabs controls across operations, orders, inventory, notifications, account, apps, and system.

Use this reference to understand how each setting changes your Starshipit WMS workflows.

**Path:** **System > Settings**

The Settings page groups 21 tabs into six navigation sections:

| Section | Tabs |
| --- | --- |
| **Operations** | Picking, Packing, Printing, Receiving, Putaway, Job Interface |
| **Orders & Jobs** | Orders, Order Routing, Jobs, Allocation |
| **Products & Inventory** | Products, Product Syncs, Inventory Writeback, Direct Integrations |
| **Notifications** | Email Notifications, Webhooks |
| **Account & Apps** | Starshipit Account, WMS Integration, Apps, Appearance |
| **System** | System |

:::note
The tabs you can see depend on your permissions. **Products**, **Product Syncs**, **Inventory Writeback**, and **Direct Integrations** require permission to manage both settings and products. Integration-specific controls only appear when the matching provider is available on your Starshipit account.
:::

Can't find a setting? Use the **Search settings** box at the top of the page, or open **Search** from the left navigation and enter the setting name.

## Operations

### Picking

| Setting or control | What it does |
| --- | --- |
| **Tote Picking** | Lets workers pick a batch directly into totes, with one tote per order. Completing the pick creates one pack job for each tote. |
| **Require Pick Job ID on Create** | Requires the user to enter a Pick Job ID instead of letting WMS generate one. |
| **Auto-download Batch Order Packing Slips** | Downloads one PDF containing a bin-aware packing slip for each order after a batch pick is created. |

### Packing

| Setting or control | What it does |
| --- | --- |
| **Allow Partial Packing** | Lets packers print labels for quantities already packed. Turn it off to require the full packable quantity before printing. |
| **Dedicated Ship Process** | Separates packing from shipping. Packers finish packing first, then labels are printed from the shipping dashboard. |
| **Allow Ship Jobs on Mobile** | Lets mobile workers view and complete dedicated ship jobs. Turn it off to restrict shipping to the browser WMS. |
| **Show Bundle Names in Packing** | Shows exploding bundle parent rows so packers can see which bundle each component belongs to. |
| **Prevent Carrier/Service Changes in Packing** | Keeps the carrier and service selected before packing locked for packers. |

### Printing

| Setting or control | What it does |
| --- | --- |
| **Open labels in browser print dialog** | Opens shipping labels in the browser print dialog. Leave this off to download PDFs, including when a Starshipit desktop app handles printing. |
| **Delay printing during packing** | Shows a countdown before labels print. Turn it off to print as soon as an order is ready. |
| **Auto-save carrier on print** | Saves carrier or service changes to Starshipit before printing. Turn it off to sync only changes that a user explicitly saves. |
| **Show Bin Locations on Packing Summary** | Includes pick bin locations on combined packing summary PDFs when allocation snapshots are available. |

### Receiving

| Setting or control | What it does |
| --- | --- |
| **Allow Over-Receiving** | Lets workers receive more than the ordered quantity on a purchase order line. |
| **Container Numbering** | Sets the next sequential `CON-` barcode used when containers are created in bulk. |

### Putaway

| Setting or control | What it does |
| --- | --- |
| **Aggregate Putaway Into Existing Jobs** | Adds newly staged purchase order stock to an existing open putaway job at the same staging location. Turn it off to create separate putaway work. |

### Job Interface

These controls apply across supported web and mobile job interfaces. Users without an assigned interface policy inherit the account default.

| Setting or control | What it does |
| --- | --- |
| **Interface Policy** | Selects the account default or a staff policy to edit. You can create, rename, and delete policies. A policy must be unassigned before it can be deleted. |
| **Common Workflows** | Applies a preset to the selected policy. Choose **Barcode warehouse**, **Strict scanning**, **Assisted scanning**, or **Manual warehouse**, then adjust individual controls if needed. |
| **Barcode Scanning** | Shows barcode scanner and camera input in supported job interfaces. Turning this off also disables scan history and location verification, and keeps manual location confirmation and item selection available. |
| **Show Scan History on Web** | Shows recent scans and scan errors in supported web job interfaces. Mobile job screens do not show scan-history panels. |
| **Allow Typed Barcode Entry** | Lets workers type or paste values into supported scanner controls. Turn it off for managed scan-only workflows. |
| **Require Location Verification** | Requires workers to verify job locations before confirmation in supported flows. Barcode scanning must also be enabled. |
| **Allow Manual Location Confirmation** | Shows manual actions such as **I am here** or **Confirm Location Without Scan**. Turn it off to require barcode input for location verification. |
| **Allow Manual Item Selection** | Lets workers select job items from lists or cards without scanning. Turn it off to require barcode input where supported. |
| **Allow Manual Quantity Entry** | Shows direct quantity input and plus or minus controls where a job line supports quantity adjustment. |
| **Allow Partial/Manual Completion** | Lets workers complete or confirm a line before its expected quantity has been scanned or entered. |
| **Allow Pick All / Receive All Shortcuts** | Shows full-quantity shortcuts such as **Pick All**, **Receive All**, or **Complete All** where supported. |

:::caution
Before enforcing scan-only work, make sure every required location and product has a readable barcode. Workers can be blocked when manual location confirmation or item selection is unavailable.

## Orders & Jobs

### Orders

| Setting or control | What it does |

### Inventory Writeback

Writeback controls appear for supported providers connected to the Starshipit account. Choose the relevant setup guide in [Understand WMS integrations](/articles/14700000000044-understand-wms-integrations).

| Provider | Settings and behavior |
| --- | --- |
| **[Shopify](/articles/14700000000018-set-up-shopify-with-starshipit-wms)** | Choose a writeback location and enable automatic writeback per store. **Location buckets** can map WMS quarantine and quality control stock to Shopify quality control inventory, and damaged returns to damaged inventory. **Exploding bundles** can [set Shopify bundle availability from WMS component stock and open order demand](/articles/14700000000048-sync-exploding-bundle-availability-to-shopify), independently of automatic writeback. |
| **[BigCommerce](/articles/14700000000050-set-up-bigcommerce-with-starshipit-wms)** | Choose a writeback location and enable automatic inventory writeback per store. Only linked products with a selected location can be updated. |
| **[Magento 2](/articles/14700000000052-set-up-adobe-commerce-magento-2-with-starshipit-wms)** | Choose a writeback location and enable automatic inventory writeback per store. Only linked products with a selected location can be updated. |

| Setting or control | What it does |
| --- | --- |
| **Core account ID** | Identifies the Cin7 Core account connected directly to this WMS account. |
| **Application key** | Authenticates WMS API requests to Cin7 Core. Saved credentials are not returned to the browser. |
| **Webhook bearer secret** | Authenticates incoming Cin7 Core webhooks. |
| **Test connection** | Saves changed credentials when needed, tests the connection, and loads active Cin7 Core warehouses. |
| **Cin7 Core warehouse** | Maps the WMS account to one Cin7 Core warehouse. WMS locations below the warehouse level are not copied to Cin7 Core. |
| **WMS reconciliation location** | Selects the WMS staging location used when Cin7 Core stock cannot be matched to an existing WMS bin or pick face. |
| **Enable Cin7 Core sync** | Accepts product, stock, and Advanced Purchase changes from Cin7 Core. |

### Webhooks

Webhooks send best-effort JSON payloads to an external HTTPS endpoint. WMS signs each payload with HMAC SHA-256 in the `X-Starshipit-WMS-Signature` header and never sends the secret itself.

| Setting or control | What it does |
| --- | --- |
| **Enable webhooks** | Sends the selected WMS events to the configured endpoint. |
| **Webhook URL** | Sets the HTTPS endpoint that receives event payloads. |

It preserves account information, locations, products, suppliers, and packages, but resets product and package quantities to zero. You must enter `confirm` before the reset runs. |

:::warning
Resetting transactional data cannot be undone. Use it only when you intend to clear the WMS account's operational history while keeping its configuration.
