> Install Starshipit WMS Mobile, pair a device for WMS workers, configure scanning and equipment, and verify your workspace.

Set up **Starshipit WMS Mobile** to complete WMS jobs, receive and move stock, and manage inventory from a handheld device. For standard Starshipit orders, use [Starshipit Pick & Pack](/articles/14427779060367-set-up-the-pick-pack-mobile-app) instead.

:::note
In the standard workflow, finishing a pick job does not automatically open packing. Completing the pick creates the pack job, then returns the user to **Jobs**. Start the pack job separately from **All Jobs**, **My Jobs**, or **More > Pack Now**.
:::

## Installing the app

In WMS, go to **System > Settings**, open the **Apps** tab, and scroll to **Mobile Apps**:

* **iOS** - tap **Download for iOS** to open the App Store listing.
* **Android** - tap the Android download link.

Look for **Starshipit WMS Mobile** in the store listing.

Mobile devices are automatically redirected to a mobile-optimised experience when accessing WMS from a phone or tablet browser.

## Signing in

:::mobile-screenshot
The **Connect to WMS** screen offers two sign-in paths:

* **Sign in as WMS worker** - use this when your administrator has paired the device for a warehouse worker.
* **Sign in with Starshipit** - connect using your Starshipit account and the permissions assigned to it.

## First-time setup

:::mobile-screenshot
When you sign in for the first time, the app walks through a short setup:

1. **Choose scanner mode** - select **Camera scanner** or **Physical scanner** depending on your hardware.
2. **Choose print settings** - turn device printing on only when this device should print labels.
3. **Choose equipment** - select a trolley, cart, or other equipment location if required for the work you perform. Kitting does not require equipment.
4. Confirm and enter the app.

You can change these options later from **More > Settings**.

## Pair a device for WMS worker sign-in

Pairing lets WMS workers use the mobile app without their own Starshipit accounts. It links one installation of WMS Mobile to one WMS account and signs in the worker selected by the administrator.

### Before you pair

Make sure:

* A WMS administrator has [created an active WMS worker and assigned the correct role](/articles/14700000000036-wms-users-roles-permissions-client-access).
* The administrator has the **Admin** role, or the `staff.manage` permission and access to all clients.
* The mobile device has internet access and permission to use its camera.
* A fresh installation is signed in through **Sign in with Starshipit**. The pairing setting is only available while a Starshipit user is signed in.

The pairing QR code is single-use and expires after two minutes. Generate it only when the mobile device is ready to scan it.

### Generate and scan the pairing code

1. In desktop WMS, go to **System > Roles & Permissions**.
2. If the worker is not listed, select **Add local worker**. Enter their username, display name and password, choose their role and interface policy, then select **Save worker**.
3. Find the active WMS worker who will use the device.
4. Open the worker's actions menu and select **Pair device**. WMS displays a one-time QR code and its expiry time.
5. On the mobile device, go to **More > Settings > WMS worker pairing**.
6. Tap **Open camera scanner** and allow camera access if prompted.
7. Scan the QR code before it expires.

WMS Mobile displays **Device paired**, signs in the selected worker, and opens **Jobs**.

:::important
The QR code signs the selected worker into the device. Do not save or share the code before it is scanned.
:::

### Verify the pairing

1. In WMS Mobile, go to **More > Settings > Connected Account**.
2. Confirm the worker name, username, and WMS account are correct.
3. Sign out when you have finished checking.
4. From **Connect to WMS**, tap **Sign in as WMS worker**. Confirm the paired account and device appear on the worker sign-in screen.

### Switch to another WMS worker

Another active worker from the same WMS account can use the paired device without repeating the initial Starshipit sign-in:

1. Go to **More > Settings > Connected Account**.
2. Tap **Switch WMS worker**, then confirm **Switch Worker**.
3. Enter the next worker's WMS username and password, or tap **Scan WMS worker QR** and scan a new code generated for that worker.

The device stays paired to the same WMS account when workers switch.

### Remove or revoke a pairing

Remove a pairing when the device changes warehouse, changes WMS account, or should no longer allow worker sign-in.

To remove it from the mobile device:

1. Sign out of the WMS worker session.
2. Sign in through **Sign in with Starshipit**.
3. Go to **More > Settings > WMS worker pairing**.
4. Tap **Remove pairing**, then confirm **Remove**.

An administrator can also go to **System > Roles & Permissions**, find the device under **Paired devices**, and select **Revoke**. Removing or revoking the pairing ends its WMS worker sessions. The device must be paired again before another WMS worker can sign in.

### Troubleshoot pairing

| Problem | What to do |
|---|---|
| **WMS worker pairing** is not visible in mobile Settings | Sign out, then use **Sign in with Starshipit**. A WMS worker session cannot manage the device pairing. |
| The QR code is invalid, expired, or already used | Close the code in desktop WMS, generate a new one, and scan it within two minutes. |
| The device is already paired to another WMS account | Remove the existing pairing from the device or revoke it from the original WMS account, then pair it to the new account. |
| **Pair device** is missing for the worker | Confirm the worker is a WMS-local worker and is active. Also confirm the administrator can manage roles and has access to all clients. |
| The camera does not open or scan | Allow camera access in the device settings, confirm the device is online, and increase the brightness of the screen showing the QR code. |
| Worker sign-in is temporarily locked after repeated failures | Wait 15 minutes before trying again, or ask an administrator to check the worker's username, status, access expiry, and password. |

## Main navigation

:::mobile-screenshot
The app has three tabs:

| Tab | What it shows |
|---|---|
| **Jobs** | All available and assigned jobs, with filters for **All Jobs**, **My Jobs**, and job type |
| **Inventory** | Search products and review on-hand, committed, available, incoming, and location quantities |
| **More** | Pack Now, receiving, stock movement and adjustment actions, and Settings |

## How pick and pack flow on mobile

For normal outbound work, mobile follows a two-step job flow:

1. Complete the **pick job**.
2. Return to the jobs list or packing entry point.
3. Open or claim the separately created **pack job**.

This is different from **Pack Now**, which is an expedited flow designed to move an order straight into packing rather than following the standard pick-then-pack sequence.

## Settings reference

| Setting | What it does |
|---|---|
| **Connected Account** | Review the signed-in WMS worker or Starshipit account and the active WMS account |
