Use **Restocking Insights** to identify products that need more stock, plan when to reorder them, and create draft purchase orders for review. ## Before you begin To create draft purchase orders from the dashboard: * You need permission to manage purchase orders. * Create your supplier records, then assign a supplier to each product you want to reorder. See [Suppliers and purchase orders](/articles/14700000000007-suppliers-and-purchase-orders). * Set each product's **Default unit cost**, **Lead Time (days)**, **Warning stock level**, and **Ideal stock level**. Restocking Insights uses these values to calculate draft quantities, costs, and order dates. You can change the sales-history period used for forecasts under **Settings > Products > Restocking sales-history window**. The default is 30 days. ## Review your restocking forecast Open [Restocking Insights](https://wms.starshipit.com/dashboard/restocking) to see the product-level forecast. The dashboard shows: | Column | What it means | |---|---| | **Status** | The urgency of the forecast: Critical, Order Now, Attention, Healthy, or Unknown. | | **Supplier** | The supplier assigned to the product. Products without one show **Missing supplier**. | | **SOH** | The available quantity used by the forecast. It is warehouse stock minus reserved and committed quantities. | | **Needed** | The quantity still required to reach the ideal stock level after subtracting outstanding confirmed and draft PO quantities. | | **Plan Levels** | The product's warning and ideal stock levels. | | **Burn Rate** | Average daily consumption over the configured sales-history window. | | **Days Left** | Estimated days until the available quantity reaches zero at the current burn rate. | | **Order By** | Recommended order date, calculated as the projected stockout date minus the product's lead time. | | **Incoming** | Remaining quantity on Created or Partially Received POs. Draft PO quantities appear in parentheses. The next expected date appears when one is set. | | **Stockout** | The date the available quantity is projected to reach zero. | Expand a product row to review its stock history and forecast chart. A warning icon indicates that the forecast has limited sales history and may be less reliable. ## How Restocking Insights calculates demand Restocking Insights uses outbound consumption movements from the configured sales-history window to calculate burn rate. It then combines that rate with available stock and the product's lead time to project stockout and order dates. Products without a lead time use a five-day default. Products can appear when either of these conditions applies: * They have a positive burn rate in the configured period. * Their available stock is at or below the warning stock level and their ideal stock level is higher than the available quantity. This means a product with no recent consumption can still appear when its warning and ideal stock levels show a restocking need. Products with neither recent consumption nor a configured threshold need are excluded. The base restocking need is the ideal stock level minus the available quantity. WMS then subtracts the remaining quantities on confirmed and draft POs to calculate **Needed**. This prevents stock already on order from being included in another generated draft. Use the **Missing Supplier** filter to find products that cannot be added to supplier-grouped draft POs. If you can manage account-level products, you can assign a supplier directly from the **Supplier** column while this filter is active. ## Create draft purchase orders The **Create Draft POs** action uses all qualifying products on the dashboard, even when you have applied a search or status filter. 1. Review **Needed**, **Incoming**, and the assigned supplier. 2. Confirm that each product you want to include has the correct supplier and default unit cost. 3. Select **Create Draft POs**. 4. Check the confirmation message for the number of POs and line items created. WMS creates one **DRAFT** purchase order per supplier. Each draft contains the supplier's qualifying products, the net **Needed** quantity, and the product's default unit cost. Products that need stock but do not have a supplier are skipped. Assign a supplier to the product, then run the action again if you still need a draft for it. ## Review and issue the drafts Drafts are not ready for receiving until you review and create them. 1. Select **Review Draft POs** to open the purchase-order list filtered to **DRAFT**. 2. Open each new PO. 3. Check the supplier, line items, quantities, unit costs, and total. 4. Add an **Expected Arrival Date** if you want Restocking Insights to show when the confirmed stock is due. 5. Add, remove, or update line items as needed. 6. Select **Save as Draft** to keep editing later, or **Create PO** to change its status to **CREATED**. ## Export restocking data Select **Export CSV** to download all rows that match the current search and status filter, in the current sort order. The export is not limited to the page you are viewing. The CSV includes: * SKU, product name, supplier, and status * SOH, warning stock level, ideal stock level, and net quantity to order * Burn rate, days left, order-by date, stockout date, and projection reliability * Confirmed incoming quantity, draft incoming quantity, next incoming stock date, and order-overdue details Use the export to review reorders outside WMS or share the forecast with your procurement team or suppliers. ## Check the Operations dashboard summary The [Operations dashboard](https://wms.starshipit.com/dashboard/operations) includes a restocking summary card with the number of products that need attention. Select the card to open the full product-level forecast. ## FAQ Why are some products not appearing on the Restocking Insights dashboard? A visible product appears when it has a positive burn rate in the configured sales-history window or its warning and ideal stock levels show a restocking need. Check the product's visibility, sales history, **Warning stock level**, and **Ideal stock level**. What does SOH mean on this dashboard? The Restocking Insights **SOH** value is the available quantity used for forecasting. It starts with physical warehouse stock and subtracts reserved stock and quantities committed to open orders. Why was a product skipped when I created draft POs? WMS skips a product that has a positive **Needed** quantity but no assigned supplier. Use the **Missing Supplier** filter and assign the correct supplier, then create another batch if the product still needs stock. Does Restocking Insights create purchase orders automatically? No. WMS does not create POs in the background.
