> Ship to the US with Australia Post and Zonos, including upfront duties and taxes.

Link the correct Australia Post business account to a verified Zonos account so duties can be collected for eligible US-bound postal shipments.

## Before you begin

- Check [Australia Post's current US sending requirements](https://auspost.com.au/disruptions-and-updates/international-service-updates/us-tariffs), including goods, value and service eligibility. Its verified-account process does not cover every shipment or clearance route.
- Have a payment method for duties and Zonos fees.
- Find the Australia Post identifier for the account you use in Starshipit:
  - **eParcel/Parcel Send:** Open **Settings > Couriers > Australia Post Settings** in Starshipit and copy the **MLID**.
  - **MyPost Business:** Find your **Customer Number (APBCN)** on the MyPost Business dashboard or **Send & Save** page beneath the QR code. This number is not shown in Starshipit.

Creating the verified account is free. Duties, taxes and Zonos handling or administration fees are charged separately to your payment method.

## Create or link the verified account

1. Use the Zonos registration link in Australia Post's US sending instructions.
2. Enter your business details and the correct MLID or APBCN.
3. Add the payment method for duties and fees, then complete verification.
4. If you already use Zonos, follow Australia Post's instructions to connect the Australia Post account to that existing account. Do not assume another Zonos integration has registered this shipping account.
5. In Zonos, confirm the verified account is linked to the Australia Post account you will use.

Register the relevant identifier separately if you send through more than one Australia Post account or platform.

If you change your business details or Australia Post shipping identifier after verification, Australia Post recommends waiting at least **30 minutes** before creating labels or manifests.

## Check the order before shipping

Confirm each item has an accurate description, goods value, country of manufacture and the required **10-digit HS tariff code**. Check that the linked account and payment method are ready before manifesting.

For eligible shipments using Australia Post's verified-account process, Australia Post and Zonos handle duty collection. Selecting a Starshipit DDP option does not replace that registration. For goods or values outside the process, ask Australia Post which clearance and payment arrangement applies.

## Resolve a registration or shipping problem

| Problem | What to check |
| --- | --- |
| Your Australia Post account is not linked | Check the MLID or APBCN belongs to the account you ship from, and confirm verification in Zonos. Ask Australia Post or Zonos to resolve a mismatch before lodging parcels. |
| Duties cannot be collected | Check the Zonos payment method and the shipment's eligibility for the verified-account process. Resolve the error before lodging the parcel. |
| A parcel has been rejected or returned | Ask Australia Post which declaration or payment requirement failed. Follow its return and relabelling instructions; a rejected label must not be reused. |

See [Ship to the US: de minimis updates and guidance](/articles/13607268920207-ship-to-the-us-de-minimis-updates-and-guidance) for the wider customs checklist and carrier updates. Starshipit Landed Costs has its own account approval and setup; a postal Zonos registration does not enable that separate service.
