What is the Template Editor tool?
The Customise using template editor is an Excel-based tool that allows you to customise the layout and content of your packing slips using dynamic parameters that represent shipment data.

Basic Packing Slip Template (A4 Portrait)
A simple layout with key order and customer details.

Contains the following parameters: Logo / Barcode / Destination Address / Order Number / Order Date / Packed Date / Shipping Method / Item Image / Item Description / Item Colour / Item Size / Item QTY / Order Notes
Values to Replace:
- Your Company Name
- Your website URL

Pick and Pack Packing Slip Template (A4 Portrait)
A simple layout for picking and packing from.

Contains the following parameters: Logo / Barcode / Order Number / Order Date / Destination Address / Order Notes / Order Tags / Item Image / Item Description / Item Bin Location / Item Colour / Item Size / Item QTY / Packed* / Packed By** / Packed Date / Shipping Method
- Packed is an empty column where you can manually tick off items as you pack them.
** Packed by is an empty field where you can write who packed the order for a personalised touch.

Invoice Packing Slip Template (A4 Portrait)

How to upload a template to the editor
- Download your template
- In Starshipit, navigate to Settings > Packing Slips, and click Configure your Packing Slips here
- Under Select your packing slip template, select the Customise using template editor option
- Under Select your template size, set the Template size, Start area, and End area as specified above for the specific template you downloaded
- In the template editor window, click the folder icon and select the .xlsx file for the template you downloaded (you may need to unzip the file first)
- Click Save Template below the editor window to save the template
- Click Download Sample to preview the layout with sample data
Frequently asked questions
Can I create my own template and upload to the template editor?
Yes. You can use Excel or Google Sheets to create your own template and upload into the template editor following the steps above.
Can I save multiple templates?
Only one packing slip template can be saved in Starshipit at a time, but you can export and save templates and re-upload when needed. To export your template from the template editor, click the Export button.

There is a column in the template that I don't need, can I remove it?
Yes. You have two options:
- Replace it with a parameter that's more relevant to your needs, or
- Remove the column entirely
To replace a parameter:
- Select the cell you want to replace
- On the right side of the editor, double-click the new parameter you'd like to use
This will replace the selected cell with the new value.
To remove a column:
- Select the column you want to remove
- Click the dropdown arrow in the top-right of the editor
- Select Delete cells, then select the column icon
