> Cancel a courier shipment and archive its Starshipit order without confusing the two actions.

Cancel the courier shipment when a label has been created but the parcel will not be sent. Archiving the order in Starshipit is a separate action: it removes the order from your active work, but does not by itself guarantee that the courier shipment is cancelled.

## Before you begin

- Check the tracking number on the physical parcel before you cancel anything. An order may have more than one label after it has been reprinted, cloned, or redone.
- Check your courier's cancellation deadline. A shipment that has already been manifested or scanned may need to be cancelled in the courier portal or through the courier directly.

:::warning
Do not cancel a tracking number just because its order is in **Archived**. Confirm which label is on the parcel first. Cancelling a label that is already moving through the courier network can lead to return-to-sender fees or other charges.
:::

## Cancel the courier shipment

1. Go to **Settings > Couriers**.
2. Open the settings for the courier used by the shipment.
3. Open **Tools**.
4. If you see **Cancel a shipment**, enter the tracking number and submit the cancellation.
5. If your courier does not provide this tool, cancel the shipment in the courier's portal or contact the courier directly.

The available cancellation fields and deadlines are set by each courier. A successful request in Starshipit confirms that Starshipit submitted it; check the courier's response or portal when you need to confirm the shipment is no longer active.

## Couriers you can cancel in Starshipit

Starshipit has a direct courier-cancellation route for the integrations below. The availability of a cancellation still depends on the courier's rules, the shipment state, and the details on your account.

| Region | Courier integrations |
| --- | --- |
| Australia | Allied Express, Aramex (MyFastway), Direct Freight, Parcel Right, Rendr, Sendle, Sherpa, and Urgent Couriers |
| New Zealand | Castle Parcels, Kiwi Oversize, NZ Couriers, and Post Haste |
| International | Asendia, DHL Parcel Europe, FedEx, UPS, and USPS via Direct API |

If your courier is not listed, cancel the shipment in its portal or contact the courier directly. Starshipit can still archive the order, but archiving does not cancel the courier shipment.

## Archive the Starshipit order

Archive the order separately if you no longer need to process it in Starshipit:

1. Go to **Orders**.
2. Select the order.
3. Open **Actions** and choose **Archive**.
4. Confirm that the order appears in **Archived**.

See [Archive orders](/articles/360001763415-archive-orders) when you need to restore an archived order later.

## Automatically cancel eligible archived shipments

For Australian accounts, the following courier integrations have an **Automatically cancel archived orders** setting under **Settings > Couriers > [courier] > Advanced**. Enable it only when you want Starshipit to submit a cancellation whenever you archive an eligible order.

| Courier | What Starshipit attempts to cancel |
| --- | --- |
| Aramex (MyFastway) | Eligible **Printed** or **Unshipped** MyFastway consignments with a carrier consignment ID. |
| Direct Freight | Eligible **Printed** or **Unshipped** shipments with a tracking number. |
| UPS (New API) | Eligible **Printed** or **Unshipped** shipments with a tracking number. |

The setting is off by default and is not a replacement for checking the courier cancellation result. Other shipment states, legacy Aramex FastLabel labels, and shipments without the required carrier reference are not cancelled automatically.

## FAQs

<!-- faq:start -->

<!-- faq:question -->Does archiving an order cancel its courier shipment?<!-- /faq:question -->

No. Archive the order to remove it from active Starshipit work, then cancel the courier shipment through the courier settings, portal, or support channel as appropriate. An enabled automatic-cancellation setting can submit cancellations for eligible shipments, but the available behaviour depends on the courier.

<!-- faq:question -->Can I cancel a manifested shipment?<!-- /faq:question -->

Contact the courier or use its portal. Whether cancellation is possible depends on the courier and whether the parcel has been scanned or entered its network.
